About Susan

Having retired after many years in retail management for a major department store, and having raised
my children who in turn blessed me with six grandchildren, I began volunteer work at a local organization as
a facilitator for children who were suffering grief.

Infused with a new-found joy of being able to make a difference,
by far more appealing than the hectic pace of
merchandising,
I changed direction and began work as a substitute teacher.

Working primarily in the middle school, I was struck by the significant number of students who were caught
in a repeated cycle of detentions and suspensions.  Many of the parents of these children admitted that they
hated answering the phone when the school called, only to hear yet again that their child was in trouble.

Even in kindergarten classes, I heard classmates of these spirited children refer to them as 'the bad kids'.
When one of my own grandchildren was diagnosed with a disorder that lends itself to behavior challenges, I
knew first-hand the heartbreaking effects this can have on these children and their families.

I was - and am! - convinced that these children are not innately 'bad', so I kept digging to seek answers for
how to best stop these cycles of negative behaviors and how to have these children experience real and
lasting success.

A short time later I received a flyer from Howard Glasser, M.A., Executive Director of the Children's Success
Foundation in Tucson, AZ and co-author of
Transforming the Difficult Child -- a truly brilliant and caring
therapist, author, and creator of
The Nurtured Heart ApproachTM. I knew immediately that this was what I
had  been searching for, and so I invested my own time and expense to receive both the Initial Training held
regionally, followed by the Advanced Training held in Tucson, AZ.

Seeing first-hand the miraculous results of this approach, I knew my passion - to advocate for every
challenging child, and his or her family, by teaching & coaching
The Nurtured Heart ApproachTM. It brings to
our children, families, and communities a much needed sense or order, control, and
CALM.
It is my desire to have my clients be successful, so I offer follow-ups free of charge to parents.
Transformation is not easy to do alone.  I care, and will help you navigate to success.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns.  I look forward to working with you.
